Bat Yam Museum of Art presents cutting-edge art that is relevant to the people who live here. The museum is a center of contemporary Israeli art exhibitions, attracting art lovers from all over Israel, as well as a cultural and educational center that serves the community around it.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bat Yam Museum of Art<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The museum\u2019s round and intimate space allows us to hold ambitious solo exhibitions, dedicated to the creative vision of one artist. We invite the artists to treat the structure of the museum as raw material and to create a new, complete, and total world inside it.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our group exhibitions are based on extensive thought and curatorial processes. They bring together works by emerging and established artists to examine common themes from different perspectives. In the group exhibitions, we also touch upon various facets of the tension between the artist as an individual and the collective and space in which he or she operates.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Multi-Cultural Buildings<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In addition to our contemporary art exhibitions, we also run two cultural houses that celebrate the work of two great artists \u2013 the house of novelist Sholem Asch and the house of the artist Issachar Ber Ryback.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The combination of a contemporary art museum with MoBY\u2019s culture houses allows us to offer a wealth of possibilities and combinations: contemporary art exhibitions alongside literary evenings, and art classes for children alongside dance and performance events.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Right to Meet Art<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We believe that the museum\u2019s activity should not remain between its walls, but rather expand to reach the entire city. In recent years, we have been stepping outside more and more, deepening the museum\u2019s engagement with the public spaces and the city\u2019s life. In the coming years, we aspire to continue and initiate as many public and community engagement art projects as possible, and to expand the museum\u2019s involvement in municipal planning processes of the public space in the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For many children, the exhibitions at the Bat Yam Museum of Art are their first encounter with art. We feel a great responsibility to ensure that this will not be their last. We believe that contemporary art can provide children (and adults) with meaningful tools for life \u2013 it develops creativity, independent thought, expression, and conversation skills like visual sensibility. With this in mind, we are doing everything we can to give children their right to experience art, broaden their horizons, and cultivate their imagination.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the coming years, we aim to expand the circle of pupils who visit the museum and to continue and develop the program of art classes for Bat Yam residents, as well as our teachers\u2019 training workshops.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When the iconic round building of the museum was constructed in 1961 by architect Yitzhak Perlstein, it was built next to an operational water tower, as the manifestation of the perception that culture and art are essential infrastructures, as necessary as running drinking water. We still believe that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
