The architectural restoration of the house was carried out by Efrat-Kowalsky Architects<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Over the last decade, we carried out extensive and complex restoration works of the house and its furniture and rare collections.\u00a0The architectural restoration of the house was carried out by Efrat-Kowalsky Architects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The conservation of the oil paintings in the collection (Gottlieb, Kisling, Kikoine, Levitan) was carried out by restorator Maayana Fliss, while the works on paper were conserved by Noa Cahaner McManus. The conservation of the original sofas and couches that Asch brought to Israel spanned six months, and involved a wood conservator, Ronen Dor, and upholstery conservator Caroline Freedman. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The restoration project was made possible thanks to the support of the Bat Yam Municipality, the Ministry of Culture and Sport, Mifal HaPais, and The Council for Conservation of Heritage Sites in Israel.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the years, the historical garden of the Sholem Asch House hosted literary evenings and concerts, the early ones with the writer himself. In 2020, the garden was recreated according to the original plans of landscape architect Meir Victor (who also planned the garden in President Ben Zvi\u2019s House in Jerusalem and Kiryat HaMemshala Garden). Today, the garden once again hosts the Yiddish Speakers Community meetings in Bat Yam as well as events and meetings with our residency program<\/a> guests.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The recreation of the garden was a collaborative project of the Sholem Asch House, the Bat Yam Municipal Gardens Department, and the Council for Conservation of Heritage Sites in Israel.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
